The procedure of appointment in SGPGI:
For the appointment in SGPGI, we had to reach SGPGI at 8 AM along with the old file from the store and stand in line for the allotment of the appointment number.
It was a big problem as when we reached the counter, there was a huge line standing there waiting. The people from various cities, towns, and villages came to the Institute at night and lined up when the institute opened.
The OPD of Dr. Pradhan was on each Monday and Friday and sometimes we had to wait till the evening for our turn. We also had to rush looking for a wheelchair as there was an on and off position in between, for our turn to go to the doctor's cabin. The OPD was always crowded as Dr. Pradhan was a very renowned Dr. so, it was not possible to contact him without an appointment.
It was becoming very difficult to get the proper treatment as the disease was beyond our understanding now. She was not able to take charge of her duties as a housewife due to the typical nature of the disease.
Difficulties in the family:
Our elder son Sameer, after doing M. Tech. from IIT NEW Delhi, was in service at HBTI Kanpur. My daughter Sarika, after her BSC. Home Science and diploma in computer science, was doing a government job with the Principal Secretary in the sericulture department, setting up a new computer lab. My youngest son Gaurav was doing his B.Tech from IIT BHU Varanasi. Both my sons were out of Lucknow except for my daughter. The only advantage was that I was posted in Lucknow so I was looking after my wife as well. At that time, we had the big responsibility of marriages of my son and daughter.
The marriage of my daughter was fixed on 31st January 1996, with a businessman Arvind Bhargava, a co-owner of a reputed printing press in Kanpur. My relatives, especially Mama ( uncle ) S.K. Bhargava businessman in Lucknow, and Mami ( aunt ) Uma who helped a lot in the marriage of my daughter. They both have been very affectionate to me as on every occasion, Uma Mami was always with my wife helping her, throughout her life. Another is my younger brother Rakesh, an official in PNB, and his wife Geeta who are also in Lucknow and were always with me and my wife whenever required.
16th May 1996 at SGPGI Lucknow
On 16th May 1996, I discussed the situation of the on and off position with Dr. Pradhan. This time Dr. Pradhan increased the doses as follows:
1) Sinemet 110 -1-1-1/2 in place of ½-1/2-1/2.
2) Pacitane -1/2-1/2increased to1-1/2 with few vitamins as very slight tremors in both hands were seen now.(can call Stage 2nd) (refer 8).

With this change, on time had increased and she was much more comfortable than before. But the off position was the same but she could do things slowly in the off position as usual.
12th July 1996 at SGPGI:
Again, I went to Dr. Pradhan on 12th July 1996 for a routine checkup. My wife was not completely comfortable with the on-off position so Dr. Pradhan added one more auxiliary Parkinson's drug cap Amantrel 100, two times a day along with the same prescription dated 16th May 1996 to continue.
To improve the off condition, he again asked to take HP200 one teaspoon, three times a day in the off position. ( Refer 8)
HP 200 did not give any results except nausea and vomiting so we discontinued it ourselves. Dr. Pradhan also suggested for an MRI of the head be done at my convenience. MRI was done on 3rd January 1997 which was absolutely normal (9).
