She used to wake up at 6:30 AM in the morning and used to take some warm water. After brushing her teeth, she used to take a cup of tea with some biscuits. After sleep, when she woke up in the morning, she had some residue of dopamine that remained in the brain so that she could stand from the bed herself and do some work herself. After tea, she took the first dose of Sinemet or its equivalent and had to wait for half an hour till she came in on position. At 8:30 AM, she used to go to the bathroom for daily routine work, and after dressing, she used to go for Pooja in the temple.

Before her major operation on her head, she used to do things herself without any attendant with little help from me or some maid or servant. Before surgery, she had attended so many functions of near relatives and friends outside Lucknow and in Lucknow. She was very fond of playing Rummy, so we often went to our friend’s circle in the afternoon. She often went into the kitchen to help cook and train her in preparing various dishes. The lady cook was with us for about eight years and was perfectly trained before she left when the head operation was performed as she could not cooperate with new caretaker Anushka in the year October 2010 and then a new lady cook was appointed.

After surgery, my wife became dependent on Anushka caretaker, but the routine had not changed. Anushka was also a very pious girl who did puja before preparing and serving breakfast. She was with my wife from the morning since my wife woke up, took my wife to the toilet, got her tooth brushing, served tea, gave her medicines, did preparations for my wife’s bathing, got her dressed after her bath, prepared poojas material, took her to the Pooja room and made her comfortable in the Pooja seat, Anushka, then in a hurry used to go for her morning routine work including bathing. She also did puja herself daily, prepared breakfast for us, and served at about 10 AM. Anushka was a good Hindi typist, and so she prepared a collection of all mantras, bhajans, and Aarti in a self-prepared book for my wife.

As I have previously written in the brief history of the girl Anushka, she could not study properly in her village due to her family circumstances. While joining us, she had passed high school with 33% marks, so my wife used to teach her by giving dictation and teaching other subjects after breakfast. Before lunch, she used to see her kitchen garden with Anushika. Medicines were given at 1:30 PM, and lunch was served to her at about 2 PM. Then up to 4 PM, she had bed rest or got some sleep. At 4 PM, it was time for physiotherapy by Sony. Then time for evening tea, and after tea, Anushka used to take her outside for walking, giving her support. At 8 PM, it was time for night medicines, and when on position came, she took dinner at the dining table.

Before giving sleeping medication, Anushka used to provide some massage for arms and legs with mustard oil. As I have previously written, constipation and insomnia are a must for the patient due to the use of Parkinson's medicines. Sleeping dose Zolfresh 5 mg was given at night daily since 2000, and laxatives like Kayam churna and Softovac were taken at the beginning of the disease but casually. Syrup Cremafin pink was taken later on a daily basis. In severe constipation, I had to call a nurse to give her an enema before 2010, but when Anushka joined our family, she used to provide enema when required. In her whole life having Parkinson's, she did not use a bedpan in the bed. She always used to go to the toilet alone or with the caretaker’s help. This was her quality.

Note: I am not a doctor, please consult a Neuro physician for diagnosis and treatment for Parkinson's, here I have narrated the journey of my wife's Parkinson's journey.

My wife was diagnosed of Parkinson’s Disease at age 61. She had severe calf pain, muscle pain, tremors, slurred speech, frequent falls, loss of balance, difficulty in getting up from sitting position. She was put on Senemet for 6 months and then Siferol was introduced and replaced the Senemet. During this time span she was also diagnosed with dementia. She started having hallucinations and lost touch with reality. Last year, our family doctor started her on Uine Health Centre PD-5 formula, 2 months into treatment she improved dramatically. At the end of the full treatment course, the disease is totally under control. No case of dementia, hallucination, weakness, muscle pain or tremors. My wife is strong again and has gone…
